“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Wednesday; December 12, 2007
A
week ago the heartland of the United States was shocked and
saddened by the tragedy in an Omaha mall. For me, there were
two things that seemed to heighten the intensity of the event –
first that it happened in Nebraska; but, more touching was the
fact that I had been in that mall – and quite possibly in that
store just months before.
As
the days go by, there will be a lot of lessons that will be
taken from this horrific event; but, one that strikes me is the
uncertainty of life. One minute, people were doing their
holiday shopping; preparing for a time of joy and mirth, the
next they were running for their lives. James was right when
he observed, “…you do not know what your life will be like
tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while
and then vanishes away.” (James 4:14).
In
light of this uncertainty, is there something that we need to do
in or with our lives? Let’s take care of those things today
because we never know what (or who) might be awaiting us around
the next corner.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
is Charlie Wharton.
