“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Thursday; December 13, 2007
Whether it’s the spray of a semi in a rainstorm or the fog of
the freshly fallen snow kicked up by the car in front of us, one
of the most dangerous parts of driving is traffic “backwash”.
This residue of moisture on the roadway is not only messy on a
freshly washed vehicle, it’s also dangerous because it can keep
us from seeing the hazards that lie ahead of us. Frankly, about
the only way we can manage this vulnerability is to keep a safe
distance from those creating the problem.
In
life, there is something similar to backwash. How many people
do we know how go about their lives kicking up “issues” that can
cloud our view? Whether leading us into temptations with them,
or merely messing up our view of the dangers of life by sucking
us into their mess, there are people who frankly aren’t very
good for us.
When we find people who are obstructing our view of life, let’s
apply a lesson from Driver’s Ed and back away from them.
Sometimes – in traffic and in life – distance is the best
technique we can use to avoid a wreck.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
is Charlie Wharton.
