“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Thursday; December 20, 2007
When it comes to leadership, there are two questions that must
be addressed. First, are we willing to do it and secondly, how
do we go about doing it? While, at first blush, it might not
appear that we are leaders; but, whether its being in a “formal”
leadership role or merely being a supervisor, teacher, parent,
mentor or charismatic, most of us are leaders. That brings us
back to where we started – are we willing to take on that
responsibility?
Once we accept our role of leadership, the second issue is
raised – how do we go about doing it? While there are hundreds
of leadership concepts one of the most simple elements of
leadership is personally embodying the qualities others should
emulate. Good leaders don’t just tell people how to live, they
model it as well.
The
apostle Paul assumed his leadership role by noting, “The things
you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice
these things; and the God of peace shall be with you.”
(Philippians 4:9).
Are
we embracing leadership? Are we effective at it?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
