“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Monday; December 24, 2007
This time of year is known for a lot of things – including the
hectic pace of finding that “perfect” gift for everyone on our
list – yet, one of the most powerful is reflection. Because
holiday traditions are so personal, we spend a lot of time
thinking about the influences in our lives; most of which are
positive; but for some this is a painful time of year because
they are closely tied to people who let them down.
As
we paint the pictures that the coming generations will recall,
let’s ask ourselves, “Are we making positive memories or painful
impressions?”. Thousands of years ago, a wise man encouraged
his family by observing, “The memory of the righteous is
blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.” (Proverbs
10:7).
I
doubt that many of us are concerned about the gifts we will be
giving during the 2017 holiday season; but, let’s think about
the memories we making. We can’t preselect the gifts our
children will want ten years from now; but, we can so something
about the memories they’ll recall.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
