“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Friday; December 28, 2007
When we think about worship, what comes to mind? For many of us
worship is something that we do at a place we go. Thinking
about worship can bring to mind a seemingly endless sermon on a
hard wooden pew or an invigorating hymn flanked by some
incredible people.
Now
matter whether we perceive worship as monotonous or exciting,
viewing it as something we do at a certain place and time is
limiting. In all reality, worship isn’t “church”, it’s life.
When the apostle Paul described worship he noted, “I urge you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your
bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is
your spiritual service of worship.” (Romans 12:1). In essence,
what was done in a communal setting was merely a manifestation
of a week’s worth of effort.
This weekend, let’s not neglect the gathering of spiritual
people; but, let’s prepare for that service by genuinely serving
God.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
