“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Monday; December 31, 2007
Sometimes it is just a matter of semantics, other times there
are gaping differences in similar sounding phrases. Take, for
example, the concepts of “strong-willed” and “focused”. On the
surface the imagines they conjure might appear similar; but,
they can be very different.
The
idea of someone being “strong-willed” can be summed up in a
desire to have their own way through intimidation, manipulation
and self-centeredness. Being “focused” on the other hand,
describes having a plan for life and pursuing it with vigor and
excitement. In the end, both concepts are about how we perceive
our place in life; but, there is a world of difference in where
we’ll end up and what we leave in the wake behind us.
How
can we know if we are “strong-willed” or “focused”? Probably
the best determination is found in a consideration of our
intentions: am I dedicated to making the world better or am I
just wanting what makes me happy?
So,
what are we: strong-willed for focused?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
