“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Monday; November 19, 2007
Most of us have been raised with a Western Civilization work
ethic that notes, if we work hard good things will happen.
We have been taught to believe that there is a correlation
between effort and results. If we try, we will – in one way
or another – succeed. We might not always be the best; but,
something good will happen and we will feel good about
ourselves.
While this has been handed down in our hemisphere, the
middle-eastern world had something similar thousands of
years ago when the wise man Solomon noted, “Commit your
works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
(Proverbs 16:3) In essence, we are taught that if we do
good, positive things will happen. No, it doesn’t mean that
if we are kind and good-hearted that we will grow up to be
healthy, wealthy and wise; but, it does mean that if we seek
and do God’s will good things will happen.
Are we dedicated to working hard? Let’s add doing good to
our hard work and see how special life can be.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
