“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Tuesday; November 27, 2007
When we consider the world around us – and the people it
contains – do we look at in a critical way or with mercy? When
we process what people are doing do we set out to point out
their mistakes or do we have a mind set on trying to understand
what they did and, if it wasn’t up to standard, how we can help
them learn from their mistakes and do better in the future?
Whether it is dealing with our children, employees, subordinates
or just the man on the street, the way we set out to see people
will determine the impression they will make. If we are looking
for successes in their lives, we will see them in spite of their
flaws; but, if we are hoping to catch them in failures, we’ll be
able to do that, too.
Centuries ago, when Jesus was describing the type of people His
disciples should be, He noted, “Blessed are the merciful, for
they shall receive mercy.” (Matthew 5:7) The great thing about
this beatitude is that not only is it the right way to live, by
living it, we receive a very practical benefit on our own.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
is Charlie Wharton.
