“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Friday; November 30, 2007
Most of us are familiar with the parables of Jesus. Using
common stories to teach was a popular way of driving home points
centuries ago and Jesus was a master at it.
One
of Jesus’ most famous stories is called the “Parable of the
Prodigal Son”. In the story a man leaves home with his
inheritance and, a while later, returns with nothing. The heart
and soul of the teaching is that when he returns, his father is
awaiting him with open arms.
Sometimes when we make mistakes, it’s tough to come home.
Whether it’s because of arrogance, embarrassment or
under-appreciating those we neglected, we don’t feel like we can
ever come back; but, the truth of the matter is that most of us
can return to our relationships if we just give it a try. The
great thing about forgiveness is that even if no one else will
do it, God has promised to be there with open arms claiming, “…
this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was
lost, and has been found.” (Luke 15:24) Are you ready to come
home … there is no better time than now.
Think about it! For
