“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your
neighbor, and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your
enemies, and pray for those who persecute you …”. (Matthew
5:43-44) If you weren’t familiar with this, you might
be expecting the next phrase to be “April Fools”; but, as
Jesus spoke it, He would be more apt to conclude with “No
foolin’!”.
One of the mistakes people often make in studying
Christianity is that we apply the principles of humanity to
it’s basic doctrine. We tend to view Christian teaching as
being built upon high human qualities; but, the truth is
that it is from a realm beyond ours. Christianity isn’t
meant to be logical; it’s spiritual.
Today, there are going to be a lot of people who lie to you
then rescind it by saying “April Fools”. When you hear
them, think about satan who lies to us everyday hoping that
we’ll believe him until that final day when he’ll say, “Oh,
I was just joshin’ you!” then will smile and say, “Got ya!”.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
