“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
One of the core religious words is “truth”. We
read of it throughout the Scriptures, we hear about it in a
lot of sermons, we even sing its praises in our hymns.
While truth has a definite role in religion, have you ever
noticed the diversity among the world’s beliefs? There are
teachings that are so different, they can’t all be true?
Often times, religions may base their doctrines on
principles of good and evil; but, by adding a dose of
nationalism or a sprinkling of denominationalism, they
venture off the straight and narrow path and find themselves
wandering away from the truth.
If we believe that truth can be (and needs to be) present in
religion, where can we find it? The Bible, within itself,
promotes its inherent and infallible truthfulness when one
of its inspired writers notes, “… even though we, or an
angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to
that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”
(Galatians 1:8).
Are we looking for truth? The only place to find it is in
the accurate and everlasting Word of God.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of
Christ; this is Charlie Wharton.
