“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When we think about the message of the Bible, what comes to
mind? Do we associate its spirit with harshness or mercy?
When we approach God’s Word, do we do so with an intense
fear of being berated or with the hope of finding something
peaceful?
When Jesus left heaven to begin His walk on earth, His birth
was heralded by an angel who proclaimed, “Do not be afraid;
for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall
be for all the people; for today in the city of David there
has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
(Luke 2:10-11) This gospel (or “good news” as it is
translated into modern English) is at the heart of
Christianity. Is there an accountability for sin – yes and
that’s a message that can’t be overlooked – yet, the best
news of all is that God cares for us and is willing to
develop and maintain an eternal relationship with us.
Could we use a little good news today? If we can’t find it
in the current events, we can be sure find it in the
everlasting Scriptures.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
