“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Wednesday; April 16, 2008
A few years ago a moral phenomenon developed that asked the
question, “What Would Jesus Do?”. Everywhere you looked
WWJD was seen on wristbands, bookmarks, bumperstickers or
billboards reminding us to make decisions with the mind of
Christ.
While this is a wonderful prompt, I’d like for us to
consider another moral principle: WSID. WSID … or “What
Should I Do” presumes that most of us know the difference
between right and wrong, we just need to draw upon our moral
knowledge to make good choices. Most of the time, the
problem isn’t that don’t know what to do, more often than
not the trial is merely in making the right choice.
When we are confronted with a moral dilemma, let’s start
considering what we should do rather than what we want to
do. Remember, it was one of Jesus’ closest disciples who
noted, “… to one who knows the right thing to do, and does
not do it, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
