“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Often, when we think about leaders, we envision people who
have their finger in everyone’s pie. We perceive leadership
as always being involved in everything. Yet, one of the
keys of wise leadership is the ability to know when to
involve ourselves and when to stay out of the fray. Whether
it’s in adding our opinion when it isn’t requested or
stepping into someone else’s issue, good leaders know how
far to go.
While this can be trying under any circumstance, one of the
most difficult times to leave well enough alone is when
someone we care about it is struggling. Being compassionate
leaders, often we want to step in and solve the issue; but,
is that really in their best interest? Sometimes the lesson
comes as much from the struggle as from the outcome.
Whether our leadership roles are as parents, bosses,
teachers or just friends, let’s be wise leaders. Let’s
learn when to wade in and when to watch from the beach.
