“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Often, when people think about Christians they perceive us
as being weaklings, cowering in the shadows or merely
disinterested in the ways of the world hiding our heads in
the sand; yet, that’s not what Jesus wants from His people.
In one of my favorite bits of advice, Jesus challenged His
disciples by saying, “… I send you out as sheep in the midst
of wolves; therefore be shrewd as serpents, and innocent as
doves.” (Matthew 10:16).
If we are going to make a difference in our world, we can’t
afford to be ignorant of the ways of the world. We have to
know what’s going on and how it is going to impact our
lives, our families, our churches and our communities.
Thousands of years ago, as King David was preparing his
people to do battle, he called upon a group who were “… men
who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel
should do …” (I Chronicles 12:32). In today’s battle
between good and evil our Lord needs people who know the
trends and have the wisdom to deal with them. Are we up to
the challenge?
