“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I recall a few years back, when mopeds began to make a
comeback, I wondered why would anyone want one? They don’t
have much power and they aren’t good for much other than
shuttling us back and forth from home to work. Now with gas
approaching $4 a gallon, every time I pass one in SUV I
think, “Man, I wish I would have bought one of those back
then!”
Sometimes it’s the little things – which at some point might
seem insignificant – that can make a big difference. For
example, when raising our children, we often think about the
inheritance we invest for them or the education we give
them; but, when was the last time we thought about the
spirit we leave them? At the beginning of the Christian
movement, an early writer noted, “… fathers, do not provoke
your children to anger; but bring them up in the discipline
and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4). On the
surface this might appear to be a little thing; but, it can
make a big difference.
Let’s invest wisely in our children, so that when a crisis
hits their lives we don’t have to say, “Man, I wish I would
have done that back then.”
