“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Benjamin
Franklin, was not just a student of life; he also loved
chess. In an 1750 article he listed the similarities of
chess and life by citing, “1st,
Foresight, which looks a little into futurity, and
considers the consequences that may attend an action ...
2nd, Circumspection, which surveys the whole
chessboard, or scene of action - the relation of the several
pieces, and their situations ... 3rd, Caution, not to
make our moves too hastily …”.
As Mr. Fanklin said, in dealing with life, like
chess, it’s easy to get so tuned into what is directly in
front of us that we lose sight of the big picture. Do we
see what’s going on around us? Are we willing to look up
and put our lives and ourselves into perspecitve? Do we
have the patience and compsure to think through our
decisions?
Let’s play the game of life in a way in which we
can win something of value. The stakes are high; but, so is
the ultimate prize.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
