“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
How
do we make our mark on the world? Most of us seem to be
convinced that we have do something to bring attention to
ourselves. Now, few us of will go as far as doing something
unsociable that will make us stand out in the crowd; but, we
are not afraid to let people know what we think.
Unfortunately, too often, we speak without thinking. We try
to get people to notice us by being there with the quickest
wit or loudest word.
Years ago, a wise man observed the folly of this type of
mentality by observing, “A fool does not delight in
understanding, but only in revealing his own mind.”
(Proverbs 18:2). According to Solomon, we take pride, not
in our ability to think; but, to speak. We are more drawn
to expressing our opinion than in the process of forming
one.
Let’s make it a point to not just think before we speak;
but, also to think more than we speak. We, and the world
around us, will be better off and a lot quieter!
