“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When
we think of the wise King Solomon, we often perceive him as
the richest man to ever rule over of the nation of Israel.
While Solomon had everything any of us could imagine – and
more – he did seem to have an earthy quality about him.
While this is shown throughout his writings, one place it
appears is in the proverb that observes, “As a ring of gold
in a swine's snout, so is a beautiful woman who lacks
discretion.” (Proverbs 11:22)
In his own way, the king personifies the idea that beauty is
only skin deep. Outer beauty is wasted on those whose
insides are disfigured because it’s about as useful as a
nosering on a pig.
When we assess our attractiveness, where do we look? It’s
important that we catch a glimpse of ourselves in the mirror
before we leave the house; but, at the end of the day, we
would do well to reflect upon our attitudes. Let’s keep in
mind, eventually beauty fades; but, personality lasts a
lifetime.
