“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When
people see us, do they think we are successful or failures?
Often, when people assess us, they look at things like how
we dress, where we live and even how we speak. People who
can string together a list of impressive words are typically
perceived as having their lives in order. While being
smooth-talking can be an asset, it’s not (necessarily) an
accurate assessment of our character. Genuine success is
found in how we treat people rather than how we talk around
them. Centuries ago, the Bible observed, “If I speak with
the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I
have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” (I
Corinthians 13:1)
Success and failure in life is summed up in the concept of
how we interact with people. If we care about them and
treat them with respect, our lives will be successful; but,
if we are hateful and uncaring, it doesn’t matter how spiffy
we look or how good we sound, we fail at life.
