“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

As
children, most of us can recall playing with our friends,
then all of a sudden, our time came to an abrupt halt when
we heard our mothers calling us in for supper. When we
heard the sound of her voice summoning us in, we knew that
someone who loved us, had prepared something special for us
– often something sweet that seemed out of this world – so
we stopped what we were doing and heeded the call.
Interestingly, the New Testament uses a similar idea when
describing God’s appeal to His people. Through out the
teachings of the early church, the idea of being called
played a prominent role. In fact, one of the early church
writers drew upon this analogy by observing, “… I pray that
the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may
know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of
the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the
surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.”
(Ephesians 1:18-19) In this message we see that our loving
God is calling His people to join Him for a richness that is
literally out of this world.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
