“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It
doesn’t take much study of juvenile law to realize that it
is significantly different that it’s adult counterpart.
While the adult code is built upon punishment, the focus of
the juvenile justice system is forgiveness and learning.
The hope is that by holding children accountable and
allowing them to fail forward, they will grow to be
productive citizens.
Interestingly, there is a similar theme found in “spiritual
law”. As God established his philosophy of dealing with
failure; He built in the idea of multiple chances and
forgiveness. Yes, sin is wrong and it separates us from a
close relationship with God; however, He does provide us
with the “do overs” that allow us to return to His good
graces. In fact, centuries ago, a man who knew God’s heart,
appealed to Him by saying, “Do not remember the sins of my
youth or my transgressions; according to Your lovingkindness
remember me, for Your goodness' sake …” (Psalm 25:7)
How is our relationship with God? Do we need to spend time
this weekend mending some fences?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
