“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

          Centuries ago scientists made quite a splash with their evolutionary concept of “natural selection”.  While, for now, I’ll reserve my opinions on this concept; there is a similar sounding phrase that I believe with all my heart.  Each parent who has watched a child go off to college or kissed the bride on their daughter’s wedding day is familiar with the concept of “natural separation”.  The idea of children growing up and leaving home is the most natural thing in our world; but, that doesn’t make it any easier for us.

          This is the time of year when many parents experience the phenomenon; so how we get through it?  I don’t think we can eliminate the emotion (nor should we strive to do so); but, we can make the transition easier by always being a good example, by making sure that our children know we care about them and praying for them before and after they leave home.

          For those going through it this year, let’s remember to relish the moment; but, be willing to release our children into their world.
