“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A
few days ago, Jeane and I had the chance to be in New
England and decided we would take in Cape Cod. Initially,
the Saturday afternoon trip to the beach seemed to be a
breeze, then we hit a traffic jam … out in the middle of no
where. It seemed like everyone was trying to escape the
city and head to the beach. I had thoughts of saying
something like they should make room for the tourists; but,
there was way more of them than me, so we just turned north
and visited Plymouth Rock.
While most of us will do anything we can to avoid traffic
jams, there is another kind of jam-up that affects most of
us. Just like the hoards of urbanites trying to escape the
city for the beach, often, we try to escape the issues and
concerns of our lives by running away. The problem with
this logic is two fold: first the problem will still be
there when we are forced to return and secondly, the longer
we avoid the issue, the worse it gets.
Is there something our lives that is troubling us? If so,
let’s not try to go away … let’s just let go and let God
take us where we need to be.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
