“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Wednesday; February 6, 2008
When pondering Christianity, do we consider it to be a more
difficult or an easier way of life? When we think about
living the life ordained in the Scriptures, do we envision
freedom or constraint?
While it is true that living the edicts of the Bible require
a more focused life, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it
has to be more difficult. In fact, by giving up a lifetime
devoted to sin and selfishness, we break free from the bonds
of their consequences and are able to find a true freedom.
Yes, God does demand an obedience and slavery to Him; but,
through that, we find a ease of life. By doing things His
way, we are able to be liberated from the constraints of
carnal living. Jesus made a promise to believers when He
said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I
will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from
Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find
rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29) Are we looking
for freedom? That is only found in service to God.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
