“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Wednesday; February 13, 2008
I was one of the fortunate ones, I got used to wearing
glasses early in my life. I believe it was in the third
grade when I started wearing specs and have been paying
optometrist’s bills ever sense. Being a child with a pair
of glasses, I was one of the several who grew up hearing,
“How in the world can you see anything out of those filthy
things.”. As a child, dirt and grime on clothes or glasses,
were no big deal – you just adapted and went on.
Have you ever seen someone who did something blatantly evil
and you wondered, “How could they do that?” only to have
them follow up with some kind of logic that, even as flawed
as is was, made the action okay to them? In their own way,
their conscience allowed them to see things though “dirty
glasses” and, by adapting to that way of rationale, they
felt okay about what they did.
Let’s remember that a clean conscience may be an admirable
goal; but, there is something even more important. The
Bible reminds us, “All the ways of a man are clean in his
own sight, but the Lord weighs the motives.” (Proverbs
16:2)
