“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Friday; February 15, 2008

As we gather this weekend to worship God, what should be doing?  This may seem to be a bit of an odd question; because we all know that we should be doing “church stuff”.   When we go to church, we do the things that seem to be religious, then we shake a few hands, make a business contact or two, complement the preacher and go home.  In a society where religion is a right, not a privilege, worship isn’t a bad way to spend part of a day … but, can there be more.

Thousands of years ago, King David; prayed a prayer of worship and gave us a good outline for worship.  David appealed to God, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”  (Psalm 19:14)  When we come together to worship, our actions and our attitudes should be appealing to the Lord.  Effective worship is more than making an appearance at a place, it’s making an impression on God and that begins by getting the right frame of mind before we pull into the parking lot.

Think about it!  For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this is Charlie Wharton.
