“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Monday; February 18, 2008
If you watch many of those detective shows, you will quickly
see that people will do all they can to prove what they want
to believe to be true. There are investigators who spend a
lifetime pursing leads to solve a crime. There are spouses
who spend thousands of dollars on private eyes to prove that
their partners have been cheating. There are family members
who won’t give up on a case until they vindicate one falsely
accused. In essence, if we really want to believe
something, we will have the conviction to get the proof to
prove it true.
How much do we want to believe in God? For some, faith is
enough to accept Him at His word; but others need more
proof. If there is a blessing in seeking God, it’s that in
pursuing Him we will find the richness of His presence in
the evidences around us. Thousands of years ago, God made a
promise to a lost nation seeking Him by saying, “… from
there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him
if you search for Him with all your heart and all your
soul.” (Deuteronomy 4:29) and that promise is still valid
today.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
