“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I
don’t know if you have thought about it much; but, the other day
I had a stark realization – I am glad I am not a goose! After
spending a day sliding across ice covered lakes, digging through
snow in a frozen field for rock-hard wheat and dodging hunters,
they get to come back and enjoy a relaxing sub-freezing night
sitting on any nearly-frozen open water they can find. Yep,
upon further review, I’m glad I’m not a goose!
While this might not be a common thought for us, how often do we
express thanks to God for how good we have it? I’m not talking
about thanking Him for healing us of some disease; rather,
merely thanking Him for our health in the first place? While it
would be appropriate to thank God for saving us from being
stuck in a snow drift over night, it would be just as
appropriate to thank Him for safe, uneventful travel.
Years ago, a man after God’s own heart noted, “In God we have
boasted all day long, and we will give thanks to Your name
forever.” (Psalm 44:8) Are we thankful to God for everything?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
