“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Tuesday; January 15, 2008
Living where we do, there are certain certainties and maybe the
most certain of all is that the wind will blow. When it comes
to wind, it is often important to know from which direction it
is blowing. To accomplish this, we can go out and buy an
expensive wind gauge, or we can turn around and find the closest
flag. Mechanical wind calibrators do a pretty good job of
telling us the direction of the wind; but, there is nothing
better than a flag. Flags are inexpensive, readably available,
easy to read and most of all, always accurate.
There is another tool that can remind us of flags – the Bible.
Oh, we can spend lots of time and money on self-help books and
pop-psychology; but, when it comes to godly living, there is
nothing more simple, more available nor more accurate that the
Bible. Thousands of years ago, the value of the simple message
of God was highlighted by the righteous poet who noted, “How can
a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your
word.” (Psalm 119:9)
Let’s seek out the simple, pure Word of God. It will keep us
straight no matter how the winds of change blow.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
is Charlie Wharton.
