“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Thursday; January 17, 2008
When it comes to parenting, what best describes us: managers,
leaders or merely trying to survive the chaos?
“Management-style” parenting is focused on establishing and
evaluating rules. Managing parents find value in
accomplishment-driven criteria and are impacted by how well
their children do at certain activities.
“Chaos-surviving-style” parenting is based upon reacting to the
crisis that seems to envelope in the family. Chaos-driven
families are very busy hustling around dealing with the latest
fires that seem to arise and as a result of that hectic pace are
drained most of the time.
The
best style of parenting is “Leadership-style”. Parental
leaders not only provide and example of how life is to be lived,
they also empower their children to make good decisions and
encourage them as they go through their lives.
How
are we parenting? The choice we make will make a difference in
the lives of our children.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ; this
