“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King stood at the Lincoln
Memorial and, inspired a movement by stating, “I have a
dream that my four little children will one day live in a
nation where they will not be judged by the color of their
skin but by the content of their character.” Dr. King did
not live to see his vision come to fruition; but, this dream
became the guiding principles by which he lived his life.
Do we have a vision? If we don’t dream, we are destined to
be stuck in the status quo; but, by envisioning what is
possible and setting our sights on noble things, we can be
better and accomplish more.
Thousands of years ago, a disciple of Jesus related his
vision of a new heaven and a new earth by seeing a place
where God “… shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and
there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be
any mourning, or crying, or pain …” (Revelation 21:4). Do
we share this vision of what Christianity can become? If
so, it’s guiding principles will raise our behavior and calm
our fears.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
