“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It has been said that there are givers and there are
takers. There are people who spend their lives using up the
resources around them, never really replenishing them; then,
there are people who live by the motto, “Let’s leave this
place better than how we found it.”
Often, this discussion is had in relation to the physical
world; but, there is another area where being responsible is
even more important. Each one of us inherited a society
whose foundation that was built upon the values and
standards handed down from a previous generation. When we
leave, will morality be better or worse? When our
generation is gone, will this be a better place in which to
live or is it going downhill?
This is an interesting debate worldwide; but, the more
important application is found in where we live. Will our
community be better or worse than we found it? Centuries
ago, the wise king noted, “By the blessing of the upright a
city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is torn
down.” (Proverbs 11:11).
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
