“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

          Our here and now is influenced by what is going on in our lives here and now; but, there is something this is just as important guiding our lives.  The way we live is not just directed by today’s circumstances, it is also influenced by how we perceive the afterlife.  If we believe that in the hereafter we well be just like Rover and be dead all over, it really doesn’t matter how we live.  Yes, we might have some “social responsibility”; but, outside of that, life could be lived for the enjoyment of the moment.  If, on the other hand, we believe that life s a job interview for heaven, we see it in a very different light.  By preparing for a life after death, through practicing Christianity, we hope to secure for ourselves an eternity with God.

          What do we believe about eternity?  Well Jesus believed it was certain enough to promise His disciples, “… if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:3)
