“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Living in the North Central Plains you learn to appreciate
the color green. Green means rain and rain means everything
from a lush lawn to good crops to a revived spirit. This
year, because of adequate rain; the ground, the flora and
even the people seem a bit refreshed.
Centuries ago, when the prophet Isaiah was foretelling the
coming of Jesus, he used the illustration of a rainstorm in
the desert. Just as precipitation would refresh the arid
region, Jesus would come and bring life to what had become a
dying religion. Jesus came, lived, taught and sacrificed so
that the religion of that day (and, in fact, all the lives)
could be refreshed.
Does it seem like we need a dose of something to regenerate
life in our existence. If so, the same cure Isaiah
proclaimed thousands of years ago works today. When Jesus
left the throne of heaven and descended to earth He said, “…
whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall
never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall
become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."
(John 4:14).
