“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The
other day I heard a phrase that I’d never thought of as an
oxymoron; but, have come to believe is. When someone
described another as not being a “happy camper” and my
first thought was “of course not”! How could anyone be a
happy camper? Camping implies sleeping with bugs away from
a nice climate-controlled house, in the middle of nowhere
without cable or the internet. How could that make anyone
happy!
With tongue firmly planted in cheek, I know some of you
enjoy camping; but, I have to believe the joy is brought,
not by the conditions; but, through your own attitude. You
like the activity despite the hardships. You choose to make
the best of whatever happens because you have a desire to
have fun.
When we consider life, it’s much the same way. People who
find joy and contentment do so in spite of the physical
conditions of their existence rather than because of them.
Circumstances don’t bring happiness, attitude does.
When it comes to life, are we “happy campers”? The answer
is found in our outlook.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of
Christ; this is Charlie Wharton.
