“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
What happens when someone does us wrong? How do we react
when someone violates our deepest trust or harm us either
physically or emotionally? What do we do when someone
offends us to the point that would be considered a personal
injustice?
When we are wronged, some of us would have to admit our
desire to “get even” while even others might confess a
yearning to get ahead through one-upmanship. Rationally,
this seems only right; but, if we hope to be true children
of God, the appropriate response is to forgive. I have to
be honest, if it were up to me, revenge doesn’t sound like a
bad idea; but, when we open the Book of God, we see that
wise people seek to move on with our lives. Even before
Jesus told His disciples to turn the other cheek, the wise
King Solomon observed, “Do not say, ‘I will repay evil’;
Wait for the Lord, and He will save you.” (Proverbs 20:22).
I guess when it’s all boiled down we have a choice. We can
either payback people or please God.
