“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Whoever
said that springtime is when young men’s fancies turned to
romance, didn’t really understand the depth of the issue.
You see, with most young men I know, the pursuit of the
fairer sex isn’t limited to a season, a year or even a high
school career. When I was younger, like most young men I
know, thinking about girls wasn’t a hobby, it was a fulltime
job!
The point to this observation about boys and girls is to
highlight a literary style used by Solomon in the book of
Proverbs to describe mankind’s pursuit of wisdom. When the
sage wrote about the righteous person’s desire for wisdom he
compared its allure to that of a young maiden. In fact, he
parallels wisdom’s appeal to that of a young lass when he
observes, “She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you
desire compares with her.” (Proverbs 3:15).
How important is wisdom to us? When we lose our zeal to
become wise, let’s take the time to follow a young man whose
been smitten by a young lady and it should come back to us
pretty quickly.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
