“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Last
weekend we had some impressive storms blow through our
community. In the aftermath of the wind and rain, there
were some amazing sights; but, the ones that really
intrigued me were the huge, whole trees that were blown
over, roots and all. I saw several trees that were laid on
their sides with the ground around them torn up by the
exposed root system. At first blush, it might appear that
the winds caused the damage; but, even though it played a
part, it had some help. In addition to the wind, several
inches of rain had eroded the trees’ solid foundation and
the result was a collapse.
Why is it, when we are impacted by struggles and trials in
our lives, that sometimes the effect is more damaging than
others? The answer might lie, not in the storms of that
day; but, in Satan’s efforts to erode our spiritual
foundation. We fall, not just because of one particular
temptation; but, because of the work he’s done in the days,
weeks, months and even years before.
How is our foundation? Are we ready for the storms or ripe
for the falling?
