“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When
we consider the life of Jesus it’s often easy to overlook
the depth of His character. When we open up the New
Testament, the example of Jesus’ life is easy to find. By
reading His biography, we see how He made good choices; but,
one of the more incredible elements of His life is how He
led people. For example, have you noticed how Jesus
answered the “silly” questions His disciples asked Him? In
the midst of great trials, they wanted to know which of them
would be #1 in His hierarchy. As He was preparing to die
for them, they asked if He would show them what God looked
like.
Often we are critical of this shallowness; but, I think
their willingness to ask these questions shows how safe they
felt with Jesus by believing there were no “stupid”
questions because Jesus forgave their ignorance and,
patiently, answered them. Let’s personify Jesus’ command to
“… love one another, even as I have loved you …” (John
13:34) by showing the same patience and forgiveness and
allowing people to feel safe enough with us to ask “dumb”
questions.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
