“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Why
do we do the right thing? While that may sound like either
a no-brainer or a trick question, there is a point that can
be made by doing good deeds. First, and most importantly,
we do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.
As good people, making good decisions should be a driving
force in our lives. We do the right thing because we (and
God) should expect nothing less from ourselves.
Yet, in a broader sense, doing the right thing serves a
secondary purpose through educating others about doing
good. When we make good choices, it teaches others how to
make good decisions. Whether it’s the person who might be
the subject of our good deed or some innocent bystander
watching what we do, when we make the right choice, we show
the people around us what the good life looks like.
Let’s do our best to do our best. Not only will it honor
God, it will also help those around us become better in
their own lives.
