“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Every-once-in-a-while
something so simple will sneak up on you and make an
incredible impact. A few days ago I was in an adult Bible
class when someone observed, “If you worry, why pray? If
you pray, why worry?”. I was so struck by the simplicity of
the insight that I was almost speechless; something that is
not an easy feat to accomplish.
Most of us would admit that we believe in the act of
praying; but, do we really believe in the power of prayer?
We are willing to let God hear our words; but, are we
willing to let go of our issues? Most of us are logically
convinced that worry is an empty emotion; but, do we have
the faith to give our concerns over to God.
Centuries ago, Jesus tried to personify this lesson by
observing, “… if God so arrays the grass of the field, which
is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will
He not much more do so for you …?” (Matthew 6:30) It up to
us, are we going to worry or pray?
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
