“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I
am going to let you in on a little secret … I am trying to
lose some weight. Controlling my weight has been a battle
for decades; but, it seems that the older I get, the harder
it gets. Recently, I have discovered that this
weight-losing thing keeps getting tougher and tougher
because I can’t run as much as I’d like, because I am
inching close to the half century mark and because I have
been working some odd hours.
You know, I like the way that sounds! This litany of
excuses sounds a lot better than the fact that for the past
few weeks I have eaten anything and everything I can get my
hands on. I don’t really want to take responsibility for my
failures, so blaming everything else feels good.
When we are dealing with struggles in our lives – whether
weight loss or character flaws – let’s step up to the plate
and admit the issues rather than playing the blame game. By
accepting responsibility, not only will we feel less genuine
guilt; we’ll get more productive results.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of
Christ; this is Charlie Wharton.
