“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
We
play a lot of different games in our society and one thing
that can be noted is that we use different types of scoring
to keep track of how we are doing. In baseball and golf, we
keep score by ones; but in one the highest score wins while
in the other it’s best to score low. In basketball we can
score one, two or three points while in football we can add
a six-pointer to the total. Then, there is tennis where
love means nothing and then it get really convoluted!
The point to the analogy of the points is that appropriate
score-keeping depends on the game we are playing.
Interestingly, the same is true in life. If our goal is to
die with the most stuff, we can keep track by the
acquisitions we have; but, if our hope is a quality
existence, that score is kept by attitude. Some people will
have more stuff at the end of life; but, that won’t
necessarily make them a winner. Others, may not have much
of a will; but, their way will be secure.
Before we start scoring life, let’s ask ourselves what we’re
hoping to win.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
