“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Every-once-in-a-while, when I need to get myself
re-centered, I go back to one of the keenest minds of our
nation’s history; Will Rogers. Several years ago, Will
noted, “Personally,
I have always felt the best doctor in the world is the
veterinarian. He can't ask his patients what is the matter —
he's got to just know.”.
While this observation is obvious, it’s also an
insightful look into leadership. Most authorities on
leadership laud the value of listening; but, those who are
special are the ones who have the ability to know what’s
going on inside their people without having to ask. Whether
its a parent, teacher, boss or mentor those who are able
blend their eyes, ears and intuition together and figure out
what’s going on inside another’s life –they are the ones who
really make a difffernce.
Have we been called to work with people? If so,
are we taking the time to really figure out what’s going on
in the their lives? Sometimes they can tell us; but, when
they can’t, that may be when we really need to know.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
