“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Have you ever heard the modern day proverb that makes the
seemly paradoxical statement, “If you want something done,
ask a busy person to do it.”? The rationale behind this
creed seems to be that people who are busy are typically the
doers. They have the ability and desire to accomplish
whatever is asked of them.
While we can find some fact in the adage, have we ever
wondered what makes this true? The answer might be found in
something that Thomas Jefferson observed a couple centuries
ago when he said, “Determine
never to be idle. It is wonderful how much may be done if
we are always doing”. Simply put, doing is the beginning
(and the key) to accomplishing. People who try sometimes
fail; but, those who are idle fail every time.
Thousands of years ago, another wise man noted,
“The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slack hand will
be put to forced labor.” (Proverbs 12:24). Do we want to
be victorious or a victim in this life? Our answer may come
in how industrious we choose to be.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
