“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
For some reason this year, I have fallen victim to the
infamous cottonwood. I have been on the periphery of
allergies for a while; but, this Spring I fell headlong into
them. I have been stuffed up for several days now and quite
frankly, I’m growing tired of it.
I have to admit the temptation to ask, “Why me Lord?”; but,
before I ask, I may have already found a reason. I won’t
pretend to know what’s like to “suffer” constant allergies;
but, maybe now I can a bit more sympathetic to those of you
who really struggle with them.
Sometimes, the answer to “Why me?” just might be found in
the simple comment, “So you can think about them”.
Thousands of years ago an early Christian writer noted, “For
we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we
are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15). When Jesus exchanged
suffering for sympathy, He set the tone for the rest of us
to follow. In other words, let’s not waste suffering, let’s
learn the lesson from it.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
