“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
While Horace Greely is credited with saying, “Common sense
is uncommon”; for the most part, we value common sense. In
most aspects of our lives, common sense is a virtue that
should be pursued and developed. Most of us will be better
off if we can just breed some good old fashioned horse
sense.
Even though common sense is an attribute in most elements of
life, one place where it can get us into trouble is in
Christianity. You see, Christian discipleship is not based
upon mortal wisdom, it’s value is found in godly obedience.
Our bottom line shouldn’t be based on what makes sense, it
must be determined by following what God has commanded. The
key isn’t rationale, it’s righteousness.
Let’s seek to be wise; but, more importantly, let’s be
submissive. Let’s think things out when we can; but, let’s
learn to trust in God, even when He doesn’t make (common)
sense.
