“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A few weeks back I had the chance to drive in a city where
I’d never been before. In the past I would have had to take
out a map and try to figure out where I was and how to get
where I was going, all the while watching out for traffic,
dealing with distractions and having to fold and unfold an
unwieldy map. Fortunately on this trip, I had a GPS
receiver which took the signal from above and pointed me in
the right direction. The only time I ended up lost was when
I didn’t do what it told me to do.
When we try to navigate life, isn’t it easy to get
distracted by all the issues that seem to be everywhere we
turn? Wouldn’t it be great if there was something that
could always be counted on to be accurate? Centuries ago
when the prophet Jeremiah noted, “I know, O Lord, that a
man's way is not in himself; nor is it in a man who walks to
direct his steps.” (Jeremiah 10:23) he reminded us that it
is God, not us, who will point us in a true and accurate
direction.
Do we want to get to where we ought to be? Let’s rely upon
God’s navigational system, His Bible, to get us there.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of
Christ; this is Charlie Wharton.
