“THINKABOUTIT” THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A few weeks ago I was in the Minneapolis airport looking at
the meal selections when a stranger walked up to me and
said, “Order what you want, I’m buying.”. The man went on
to explain that he had gotten a voucher for a meal from the
airline and there was no way he could use it all, so he
wanted to buy my meal. For the next several minutes he and
I sat and visited – strangers brought together by an act of
generosity.
We live in a big, overwhelming and often intimidating
world. It’s easy to feel disconnected with everyone and we
are left wondering is there anything that can get society
back together. I believe there is and the answer is
kindness. Simple acts of kindness, like the one shown me by
a complete stranger, can do more to unite our world than all
the social programs combined.
Are we looking for a way to make this a better place in
which to live? Let’s start by being generous … who knows
how many bridges we’ll end up building.
Think about it! For the Madison Avenue Church of Christ;
this is Charlie Wharton.
